About

<— This is a picture of me.

I have an interesting jack-of-creative-trades background that may make me a perfect fit for many creative roles. I have a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in communication; this includes a focus on international communication and marketing. I’ve worked as a senior designer and marketing professional for ten years. For five years my work was the proposal winning face of one of the largest engineering firms in the world. I then started my own design and marketing company, which catered to many non-profits across the state of Virginia. For three years I worked with Virginia21, a non-partisan, non-profit, youth advocacy group dedicated to bettering Virginia’s higher education system, as their marketing and Creative Director as well as their Interim Deputy Director. With Virginia21, I directed, wrote, and fully designed the materials, strategies, events, videos, social media, and campaigns for our advocacy efforts. I also help to coordinate the efforts across our 45 chapters, and 45,000 members.

I then worked my dream job with Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity as their PR and Marketing Technology Coordinator. I learned a lot in that position and I’m proud to have briefly been involved ‘behind the scenes’ with such an amazing organization. Before being an employee, I had spent time working as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity on and off since high school. In the last few years, I got involved going to Biloxi, Ms after Katrina, and I’ve gone down there every year with a church and Habitat since Katrina hit.

I have direct experience in Public Speaking, and Tradeshows/Event Planning, Graphic Design, Web Design, Writing, New Media/Social Networks, Video Editing, Audio Editing, and even some IT. I understand the budgetary constraints and unique issues that non-profits face everyday and have overcome those challenges consistently and with excellent results.

I’m not your typical candidate, I have depth and breadth of ability, and can wear many hats.

In my spare time I love my wife and daughter, ride motorcycles, paddle kayaks, travel, volunteer with area 10 church and other non-profits, mentor small businesses for free, and play clue, monopoly deal, and cranium as often as possible.
